I took many photos of this spot back in the 70’s.  As I would leave Sarasota to head to Fort Pierce, I would drive north on HWY 301 then east on, well I think it was HWY 70.  About a mile out of town, the road dead ended at the old gated entrance to the Manatee Burying Ground, the old cemetery.  I couldn’t believe my eyes the first time I saw the intersection.  Yup, there it was, a state issued ‘Dead End’ sign.

I first titled it “Some Manatee County Road Crew Has A Great Sense Of Humor” but finally decided that the title should be “Final Turn”;   40″w x 30″h; Mixed Media Photography: scanned negative, digitally printed, mounted in pieces on canvas gesso primed canvas and hand tinted.
