In the cabin there was dead silence. Well we landed, made it through street flooding on the FDR and finally unpacked the bags from the yellow cab.

I went for a walk about midnight around the upper east side. That’s were I saw the dead and mayhem. On every corner. Piles of blown out umbrellas. Each intersection, on every corner, stashed between streetlight poles and newspaper stands. Thrown in doorways. Cast aside in the gutters. My plan, to get up at 7am as the sun was coming up and document the piles dead umbrellas. But by 7am, NYC’s street cleaners were already out bagging them or putting them in corner trash cans. Take a look at the small b&W portfolio, Dead Umbrellas.

Film entries 2008: Film entries to the 2008 Double Takes: Dali Look Alike Film Contest – hosted at the Dali Museum and judged by legendary surreal film maker John Waters. This year, Double Takes is a contest encouraging people to create a vision of who they think Salvador Dalí is we want them to think, create, behave and/or look like Dalí. The Look-Alike Contest is not celebrity impersonation: our contestants, both male and female, are encouraged to express and define how they or their work embodies the spirit of Dalí. Contestants may enter by submitting one-minute videos within that theme, or by appearing in person to model their interpretive Dalí costume. Our two-day event opens with an art party and screening of video entries in Ybor City on May 8, and concludes with an awards ceremony and celebration honoring Dalís birthday at the museum on May 9. The museum is now seeking digital entries from across the globe! For complete rules, visit http://www.salvadordalimuseum.org/doubletakes/ and click on the entry form link.
Entry for 2008 Double Takes – Dali Look Alike Contest by Michael Conway, Tec Tao Studio. I won 3rd place.
